Description
The engine house of the railway, built around 1900, serves the adjoining underground service railway leading to St Michael's Mount. It is constructed from granite rubble with granite dressings, most of which is painted. The building has a T-shaped plan and features a single storey plus an attic, with a lower section that was likely a former workshop attached to the middle of the lower side. There is a tunnel entrance located at the rear right, south of the west end. The exterior has simple elevations with doorways and windows that face into a courtyard on the west side. A gabled dormered window provides light to the first floor on the south side, and the building includes ledged doors and casement windows.
