Description
The St Aubyn Arms (east wing) is a house that was formerly a public house until 1902, likely built in the 18th century. It features granite rubble walls and a scantle slate roof with brick chimneys at the gable ends. The building has cast-iron ogee gutters and a double-depth plan with two front rooms on either side of a nearly central cross passage. It is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical two-window north front, with a doorway slightly left of the middle. The doorway has a panel door and a 19th-century wooden doorcase with consoles supporting the entablature. The ground floor openings have early 19th-century 16-pane sashes in a vertical format, while the first floor features a very wide early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash with sidelights on the left and an old 24-pane three-light casement on the right. A pole, which used to carry the pub sign, projects from the roof to the right of the doorway. The interior has not been inspected.
