Barn And Shippon Immediately West Of Tregantallan Farmhouse

The building is a barn and adjoining shippon located immediately west of Tregantallon Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble with dressed granite quoins and lintels, topped by a grouted scantle slate roof with gabled ends. The structure has a long rectangular plan, featuring stable and shippon areas on the ground floor, with a barn loft above that is accessible via external stairs at the front.

The exterior stands two storeys high and includes four doorways on the ground floor. The doorway to the right of centre is enclosed within a small 20th-century concrete outshut. To the left, there is a flight of stone steps leading up to a central first-floor doorway, with another first-floor doorway to the left and a window to the right. Between the two first-floor doorways, there is a row of brick-lined pigeon holes situated below the eaves. Adjoining to the left is a single-storey shippon range with a lower roof level, which has two shippon doorways and a blocked doorway that may have served as a cartshed or cowshed. There is also a 20th-century concrete block single-storey outshut located behind the barn. The interior has not been inspected.
