5/55 Barn and Shippon immediately west - of Tregontallon Farmhouse

GV II

Barn and adjoining shippon. Circa early to mid C19. Granite rubble with dressed granite quoins and lintels. Grouted scantle slate roof with gabled ends. Plan: Long rectangular plan stable and shippons on the ground floor and a barn loft above with access via external stairs at the front. At the left south west end there is a range of single storey shippons. Exterior: 2 storeys. 4 doorways on the ground floor, the doorway to right of centre is enclosed within a small C20 concrete outshut; in the angle to the left there is a flight of stone steps up to the central first floor doorway; there is another first floor doorway to the left and a window to the right. Between the 2 first floor doorways a row of brick lined pigeon holes below the eaves. Adjoining to left a single storey shippon range with a lower roof level, 2 shippon doorways and a blocked cartshed or cowshed doorway. C20 concrete block single storey outshut behind the barn. Interior: Not inspected.
