Description

This is a memorial drinking fountain, horse and dog trough located 50 metres north of Lower Lodge, dated 1909. It is made of granite and features an octagonal basin with an octagonal central pillar that has a spout and an urn-shaped basin on top. The horse trough includes the inscription "be merciful to thy beast," while the dog basin is inscribed "for the doggies" and has a cast iron plaque depicting a dog. There are steps leading up to the fountain, although the railings are missing.
