Description

Cremyll House is a house built around 1780, with a slightly later addition on the right and a mid-19th century rear service wing. The exterior is rendered and lined out, featuring a slate roof with brick gable end stacks, while the rear service wing is constructed of brick. The house has a double depth plan with a central entrance leading to a passage between two main front rooms and a staircase located to the rear left of the passage. There is a small two-storey service wing to the rear right.

The house is two storeys high and has three bays, with two-storey bow windows on the left and right. The front features 12-pane sash windows and 8-pane sidelights on both the ground and first floors, with vertical moulding between the sashes. The central entrance has panelled double doors with inner half-glazed doors that include margin glazing, flanked by pilasters and consoles. Above the doors is a fanlight with a wooden petal pattern of glazing bars, along with a frieze and an open pediment adorned with modillions and a dentilled inner moulding. A 4-pane sash window is located above the entrance.

The moulded frieze and fine dentil cornice enhance the architectural detail. To the right, there is a two-storey addition featuring a 20th-century door and a 12-pane sash window on the ground floor, with another 12-pane sash in an exposed box on the first floor. The left gable end has a cornice that returns a short distance, along with a 20th-century single-storey lean-to with a hipped roof, door, and window. The right side includes an external stone stair leading to an upper door. The rear of the house has 16-pane sash windows on both the ground and first floors to the right and at the centre of the first floor. The small two-storey service wing has two 16-pane sashes on the first floor and a 2-light casement with a half-glazed door featuring margin glazing on the ground floor. Additionally, there is a hipped dormer on the right side of the rear.

Inside, the central passage on the ground floor boasts a fine modillion cornice, and there is a dog-leg stair to the rear left of the passage with a wreathed handrail and moulded string. The ground floor room to the right has a reeded cornice, while the first-floor room is said to feature a cornice with roses. The rest of the interior is not accessible.
