Description
Truthan Cottage and Annex are two dwellings created from the service areas of Truthan House. The buildings likely date from the 17th century, with the cottage structure added in the 18th century, and both have undergone significant alterations. The annex is built of killas stone and features a slate roof, while Truthan Cottage has a corrugated iron roof.
The annex consists of a two-bay structure that forms the north wall of a yard, with the cottage added at a right angle, also comprising two bays that include a kitchen and sitting room, along with a small lean-to structure at the rear. Both buildings are two storeys high. The cottage has a 20th-century six-panelled door and twelve-paned sash windows with timber lintels on the upper floor, while the ground floor features multi-paned casements. There is a gable stack, and the entrance to the annex is located in the east gable end. The buildings are included primarily for their group value.
