Description
The well house at Truthan, dating from the 18th or 19th century, is located within the north enclosed yard of Truthan House. It features a pitched slate roof supported by four granite monoliths. The structure is built against a stone storehouse that has a hipped roof at the back of its rear wall. Inside, there is a hand-operated water lift pump housed in a wooden casing, along with a large granite trough and a brass cock. A spindle extends through the wall to a former engine located in the storeroom. The yard surrounding the well house is paved with slate flag paths set in quartzite cobbles.
