ST COLUMB MAJOR Granary about 50 metres north of Nanswhyden Farmhouse

Granary. Late C18 - early C19. Red brick in English bond. Slurried scantle slate hipped roof. Plan: Rectangular plan granary, supported on brick piers instead of staddle stones; there are 2 open bays to each side and 3 open bays to front and rear. Exterior: The granary is 2-storey, open at ground floor with square brick piers with slate imposts supporting segmental arches. At the right side the arches are blocked. The upper storey has three 2-light window openings at the front, two 2-light window openings to each side. Interior: Not inspected. This is an unusual survival.
