Description

This is a cross located in the churchyard, about one metre east of the south porch of the Church of St Colanus. It dates from the pre-conquest period and was re-sited in 1970. The cross is a granite monolith approximately 1.5 metres high. It features a very primitive, roughly hewn shaft with four indented circles at the top on both the front and rear, which seem to be natural intrusions in the granite. There is also a hole that indicates it was formerly used as a gate pier. It is designated as an ancient monument, number 146.
