Description
Besoughan Farmhouse is a mid-19th century farmhouse with some 20th century alterations and additions. It is constructed of squared stone rubble and features a half-hipped slate roof, with brick chimney stacks on the sides. The building has a double depth plan, with a central entrance and principal rooms located to the front left and right. The kitchen is situated at the rear left, while an unheated dairy is at the rear right.
The exterior is two storeys high and has a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor features a central four-panelled door with an overlight and consoles. On either side of the door are 12-pane sash windows with margin glazing set in square embattled bays. The first floor has three 12-pane sashes, with the outer windows featuring voussoirs and keystones, and the central sash supported by consoles. At the rear, there is a margin glazed stair light and a rear lateral stack to the right, which heats the kitchen. A single-storey 20th century addition extends along the entire rear of the farmhouse. The interior has not been inspected.
