Description

The Vale is an early 19th-century house, with limited later alterations. It is constructed of stone rubble and cob, with a slurried scantle slate roof, ridge tiles, and gable ends. Brick chimney shafts rise from the gable ends. The house was originally planned with a two-room layout, incorporating a central passage accessed through the front. Each room is of equal size and was originally heated by a stack in one gable end.

The exterior presents a symmetrical two-window facade. The right side of the ground and first floors features a two-light casement window with eight panes, while the left side has a four-pane sash window, all of 19th-century style. A half-glazed door, dating to the 20th century, is centrally positioned. The side elevations are of rendered cob, with a small, single-storey lean-to addition, also of the 20th century, on the right side, featuring a door to the front. The rear elevation is of rendered cob, and includes a two-light casement window with eight panes on the ground floor to the left, and a two-light casement window with six panes on the first floor to the right. The interior has not been inspected.
