Description
Pengelly Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 19th century, with an extension added in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble with slate hung on the front elevation and features a rag slate roof with half hipped ends and brick end stacks. The building has a double depth plan with a central entrance. There are two principal rooms at the front, heated by end stacks, with a stair hall located at the rear of a central passage. The kitchen is situated on the rear left, and the dairy is on the rear right. The mid-19th century extension includes a service range with a two-room plan, set back on the right-hand gable end.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front, featuring late 18th century or early 19th century sash windows. The central entrance has a 19th century six-panel door with a fanlight and an original doorcase that includes a broken pediment supported by console brackets. The ground floor has two 20-pane sashes, and the first floor has two 20-pane sashes flanking a central 16-pane sash. Inside, the farmhouse retains its original joinery and fittings, including stick balusters on the open-well stair.
