Description

Tregoose Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the late 18th century and was remodeled in the early 19th century, with further alterations made in the mid-19th century and a few later changes. It is constructed from slatestone and granite rubble with brick dressings, and part of it is slate-hung. The roof is slate, featuring crested ridge tiles and gable ends, with a gable end stack on the right and an axial stack on the left, both with brick shafts.

The building has a two-room plan with an integral outshut that has one storey and a loft at the rear. The central entrance leads to a passage, with the principal rooms located to the front right and left. The kitchen is situated at the rear right, heated by a second stack located at the rear right. There is a staircase in the rear center and a dairy at the rear left. In the early 19th century, a one-room plan lean-to was added to the left end, which was later raised in height.

The exterior features two storeys and a symmetrical three-window front, with a buttress and one bay on the left. The central entrance has a half-glazed 19th-century door, and to the right and left are 16-pane sashes with brick segmental arches and keystones. The first floor has three 12-pane sashes, also with brick segmental arches and keystones. The left bay has a 20th-century French window on the ground floor and a 16-pane sash on the first floor. The upper part of the gable end on the left is made of brick, while the upper level on the right is slate-hung. At the rear, there is a door leading into the dairy and another doorway into the end bay on the right. The fenestration is random, featuring two and three-light casements and one 16-pane sash that lights the stair.

Inside, a wall has been removed between the passage and the front right room. There is a winder stair in the rear center. The kitchen includes a fireplace with a clambered timber lintel and a cloam oven with a cast iron door. The dairy has slate paving.
