Description

A farmhouse and adjoining cottage dating to the early 19th century, with extensions added in the later 19th century. The building is constructed of roughly coursed stone rubble, with some areas of stone rubble extensions. It features rag slate roofs with gable ends and brick end stacks. The original farmhouse has a two-room and central-entrance plan and was originally heated by end stacks. A one-room plan cottage was added around the mid-19th century to the left, with an entrance on the right side and a room on the left, also heated by an end stack. The farmhouse’s front has a 1:2 window arrangement. The original right-hand section shows dressed stone flat arches above the openings, with a 19th-century panelled door flanked by a 19th-century 16-pane sash window on the left and a 20th-century 16-pane sash window on the right. Two hornless 19th-century 16-pane sash windows are on the first floor. The adjoining cottage has brick flat arches above its openings and features a 3 over 6-pane sash window on the ground floor, a door on the right, and a horned 3 over 6-pane sash window on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected. The property is one of three similar cottages—along with West Park and a cottage 150 metres to the north of West Park—found on the west side of an unspoilt and picturesque valley.
