Description

Bodilly Veor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 18th century, though it may be older, and was extended around the early 19th century. The building features slurried rubble walls and a steep grouted scantle slate roof with large rubble stacks over the original gable ends. The original house consists of two rooms with a through passage between them. The left-hand room, likely the hall or kitchen, has a stair projection at the rear, which is now enclosed by a 19th-century lean-to. In the 19th century, a one-room plan cottage was added to the left side, a service wing was constructed at right angles behind the right-hand room (the parlour), and a lean-to was added behind the remaining rear section.

The farmhouse is two storeys high with an overall four-window front facing southeast. The cottage on the left has one window in its front and a doorway on the right, while the original house has a nearly symmetrical three-window front with its doorway slightly to the right of the center. The farmhouse features wide ground floor window openings and smaller first floor openings. The ground floor openings have 20th-century four-light casements, while two of the first floor openings have early 19th-century 12-pane two-light horizontal-sliding sashes; the right-hand window is likely a 20th-century casement. The cottage has an early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash window on the ground floor and a later six-pane horned sash above. The doors are 20th-century ledged doors.

Inside, there are 18th-century doors with fielded panelling in the cupboard of the right-hand room, and an early 19th-century four-panel door with a small corner for the rear doorway in the left-hand room. The rest of the interior features carpentry and joinery from the early to mid-19th century, and possibly later 19th-century work. The roof structure has not been inspected.
