Description

This building is a mill, now used as a farm building, dating from the late 18th century to early 19th century. It features granite rubble walls with dressed granite quoins, jambstones, and lintels. The roof is covered with asbestos slate and has gable ends, although it was originally half hipped. The mill has an irregular rectangular plan, with the left wall angled to the front, making the front wider. This wall projects on the left side, acting as an integral buttress. The millwheel used to be located beside this wall, and there is a small later lean-to at the rear. The building is two storeys high and has a roughly symmetrical southeast front with two windows. The doorway is positioned to the right of the center, with a window close on either side and two widely spaced first-floor windows. All openings are original, and the window openings are very small. There was another doorway cut towards the right that has since been blocked with rubble. The interior has not been inspected. This mill is an unusually small building with an interesting design, located very close to Vellenewson Farmhouse.
