Description

This is a house located at Hemmick Beach, dating from the early to mid-19th century, with later alterations from the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of slatestone rubble and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end stacks that have brick shafts. The house has a two-room plan with a central entrance, with rooms on either side heated by gable end stacks. There is a single-storey service outshut with a loft at the rear, added in the later 19th century, and a small outhouse attached to the left end.

The exterior is two storeys high and has a nearly symmetrical two-window front. On both the ground and first floors, there are 20th-century 12-pane sash windows to the left and right. The central porch has a pitched roof, featuring a 9-pane window at the front and a 20th-century half-glazed door on the right side. The attached outhouse on the left is single storey and built into the bank, with a 9-pane window at the front. The right end of the outhouse is blind, while the outshut includes an oven projection and a 9-pane window on the first floor. At the rear, there is a plank door leading to the outshut, with a 20th-century single casement window to the right and a two-light casement window to the left. A 20th-century hipped dormer with a two-light 6-pane casement is also present.

The interior has not been inspected. This house is noted for its significant landscape value and is an important feature of Hemmick Beach, situated in a sheltered location within the combe.
