Description

ST GORAN SX 04 SW 3/64 Corner Cottage - II

House. Early - mid C19 with C20 alterations. Slatestone rubble; the upper level at the front is in cob. Partly rendered. Tiled roof with ridge tiles and gable ends. Gable end stacks with brick shafts. Plan: 2-room plan, with a larger kitchen to left and smaller parlour to right, with each room heated from a gable end stack. Entrance set off-centre to right. To rear right there is a C20 one-room plan lean-to addition. Exterior: 2 storeys, nearly symmetrical 3-window front. First floor has three C19 2-light 3-pane casements with L hinges and cambered arches. Ground floor has doorway off-centre to right with C19 4-panelled door. To right a C20 2-light 3-pane casement and to left a C20 3-light 3-pane casement, with cambered arches. The upper level is rendered over the cob. The left end is blind, in rubble, with oven projection at the base of the stack. The right end has small single storey addition with plank door at the front and corrugated asbestos roof. At the rear, the C20 lean-to is to left; with a smaller C20 lean-to to right. Interior: not inspected.
