Description
This is a road signpost located on Percuil Road in Tregassick, dating from the early 20th century. It is made of cast iron and features a slender tapered post adorned with incised barley sugar moulding, a ring moulding halfway up, necking, coving, and a ball finial at the top. The sign has two arms with pointing fingers at the ends, which are inscribed with the names "Portcuil" and "St Anthony," the latter being an old spelling of Portcuil. This signpost is a notable early example of a county council road signpost with pointing fingers on its arms.
