Description
The chest tomb for the Williams family, located 2 meters north of the tower of the Church of Saint Gerrans, dates back to the earliest decipherable year of 1790. The lid features an inscription dedicated to Isaac Williams of Tregassa, crafted by Isbell of Truro. The tomb is made of white limestone and has a rectangular shape. It stands on a base of slatestone rubble, with a limestone slab that originally supported iron railings. Each side of the chest is adorned with a torus moulded plinth and reeded pilaster-like corner piers that flank fielded panels, some of which include inscriptions, along with a cavetto and torus moulded lid.
