Description
Victoria Terrace is an early 19th-century house located at the south side of The Lugger in Portscatho. It is the end house of a terrace and features garden walls at the front. The building is constructed from slatestone rubble with a scantle slate roof that slopes down towards the rear, complemented by a brick chimney at the right gable end and another over a partially visible wall on the left.
The house has a two-room, double-depth layout with a central staircase and stands two storeys tall. The north-facing road front is symmetrical with two windows. A central doorway features an original doorcase with consoles, leading to a pair of 20th-century top-glazed doors. Above the doorway, there is a narrow half-dome headed niche intended for a statue. The original 12-pane hornless sash windows are set in their original openings, complete with timber lintels and slate sills. The eaves are adorned with an ogee-shaped cast iron gutter.
Inside, the interior remains largely unaltered, with rubble walls at the front and gate and corner piers positioned at a higher level, topped with mortar copings.
