Description
Tregassick Farmhouse is a farmhouse that was formerly two cottages, likely built in the mid-19th century, though it may be a remodelling of an older house. The structure features slatestone rubble walls and an asbestos slate roof with gable ends, which is said to have originally been thatched. It has large stone gable and lateral stacks. The main range is single depth with central wings at the front and rear, creating a cruciform plan, and includes an outshut filling the angle at the rear right (north) and a smaller lean-to at the rear left (west). The architectural style is a vaguely vernacular revival or a vernacular survival. The farmhouse is two storeys high. The southeast front has three bays, each with one window on the ground and first floors. A gable-ended wing projects to the centre, with doorways immediately to the left and right of the wing, both featuring 20th-century open porches. The original openings have cambered brick arches, and the original windows are small pane hornless sashes. There are lateral stone stacks to the right of the front wing and to the left of the rear wing, with the right rear stack built in two stages. The interior has not been inspected.
