Description
The Vingoe chest tomb, located approximately 18 metres south of the west end of the Church of St Maddern, is a chest tomb from the early 19th century. It commemorates John Vingoe, who died in 1811 at the age of 40, his son John, who died in 1812 at the age of 1, and his wife Margaret, who died in 1844 at the age of 64. The tomb features granite monoliths on each side and a lid made of marble, which has an incised inscription set into the north side. The tomb has a rectangular plan, with the plinth buried and a moulded lid.
