Description

West Lodge at Port Eliot is a lodge built in the mid to late 19th century, with few later alterations. It is constructed of slatestone rubble and features a slate roof with ridge tiles and gable ends, along with gable end stacks on both the right and left sides. The building has a two-room plan, with a 20th-century service room added to the rear left.

The lodge is two storeys high, and the front has a wide gabled bay that is slightly set forward to the left. All the windows are 20th-century casements. The left bay includes a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light casement on the first floor. The right bay features a plain door with a chambered head, situated in a lean-to porch with cast iron panels on the sides. There is also a three-light casement with a cambered head on the ground floor to the right. The left side of the lodge has an external stack, while the rear service wing, added in the 20th century, includes a door and window on the ground floor and a window on the first floor. The right side has a two-light casement on the first floor, and the stack at this end only heats the ground floor rooms. The interior has not been inspected.
