Description

There are two headstones located 63 metres to the east of the Church of St Materiana in Tintagel. One headstone commemorates James Martyn, who died in 1781, and is made of slate with inscriptions in upper and lower case lettering with serifs. The second headstone is for James Hoskin, who died in 1791, and is also a slate rectangular headstone featuring similar inscriptions. The verse on Hoskin's headstone reads: "Through Grief and Pain My life did End In hopes again to Rise To live with God And Christ on high In endless Paradise."
