Description
Hurdon Farm gatepiers and gate, located south and southeast of the farmhouse, date from the mid-19th century. They consist of garden walls and gatepiers made from vertically-set and herring-bone slatestone rubble, situated between piers of horizontally-coursed slatestone rubble. The square piers feature slate caps and support an original six-bar chamfered wooden gate. This gate is adorned with shaped finials on the stiles, a shaped bracket under the top rail, and includes three full-height muntins along with shorter intermediate muntins. The original hardware includes large iron hinges with a self-closing bottom hinge and a latch with a scrolled lever.
