Description

This is a range of pigsties located to the northwest of Hurdon Farmhouse, dating from the early to mid-19th century. The structure is built from slatestone rubble, with cob used for the rear wall, and features rag slate roofs along with a rubble stack at the rear of the hipped end of the swill kitchen on the right. The pigsties have an L-shaped plan, with a rectangular courtyard situated in front of them. The building is single-storey, featuring four doors on the front and two doors on the left-hand return. The swill kitchen, which is accessible from outside the courtyard, has a door at the front. All openings are spanned by oak lintels. The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of a notable group of farm buildings at Hurdon Farm.
