Description

The granary and threshing barn, located south of Badash Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century. It features slatestone rubble walls and a steep hipped rag slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan with an extension on the left and at the front, and it stands two storeys high. The front elevation includes a central loading doorway above a wide threshing doorway, accessed by a flight of rubble steps from the right. There is an integral dog kennel niche and pigeon holes located under the eaves. The rear of the barn has a hipped dormer with a slate-hung opening above a large threshing doorway, which is sheltered by a lean-to porch that retains its original doors, including a split door on the right. On the left-hand side, there is a 4-pane light above a mid-19th century six-panel door. Inside, the barn retains its original oak roof structure with lapped pegged collars, a central first-floor granary with plastered walls, and a 19th-century floor structure to the right of the granary, while the left side is floorless.
