Description
This building, known as the premises occupied by Village Gossip, is a town house dating from the 18th century that was remodeled in the late 19th century. It features incised stucco on studwork and rubble, with a steep asbestos slate roof that is hipped at the front. There is a brick stack at the rear gable and a lateral stack on the left side. The building has a double-depth plan and stands two storeys high with a two-window range.
The front has late 19th-century four-pane horned sash windows, and there is a 20th-century glazed door located to the left of center. On the right side, there is a late 19th-century corner shop with windows set back from the corner, framed by end pilasters with pedimented consoles and a moulded entablature with fascia. The front shop window includes a doorway with a glazed door and overlight on the left, alongside a two-light horned sash window on the right. The two-light shop window on the right-hand return is a transomed fixed light, and to the far right of the return are two original or early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows. The interior is simple where it has been inspected.
