Description

This is an 18th-century town house, possibly originally an inn, with some alterations made in the late 19th century. The front façade was partly rebuilt at that later date. The exterior is constructed of local slatestone rubble, topped with a steep purple slate roof. The end stacks are of stone rubble, later raised with brick, and there is a cast-iron ogee gutter. The building is two storeys high, with a three-window front. The upper floor has late 19th-century horned sash windows, each with a timber lintel. The ground floor features paired sashes in wider openings; to the left, over what was an elliptically-arched former carriage entrance now containing paired sashes; and to the right, a complete mid-to-late 19th-century double shop front. This shop front has six-pane shop windows with splayed two-pane sidelights, a central doorway with a glazed door and overlight, and a fascia with a moulded cornice. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
