Description
Blythe Cottage and Carefree Cottage are a pair of early 19th-century cottages located on Trenhaile Terrace in Malpas. They are constructed from painted Killas rubble with granite dressings and have rendered cob on the first floor. The cottages feature a slurried scantle slate roof with brick end stacks. They are likely designed as a double-depth plan mirror-image pair and stand two storeys tall. The front is symmetrical with four windows. There is a central pair of windows above two round-headed doorways, which have blind fanlights and 20th-century doors. The original windows are hornless sashes, except for a horned copy on the left side of the first floor, all set under segmented arches on the ground floor and beneath a fascia board on the first floor. The interior has not been inspected.
