Description

Victoria House is an early 19th-century house built as part of a terrace. The exterior is incised stucco, with slate hanging on the right-hand gable end and an asbestos slate roof. Brick stacks are positioned at the ends. The building follows a double-depth plan, including a rear outshut.

The symmetrical front façade has three windows per floor. Original hornless sash windows are present, featuring glazing bars. The central doorway has a six-panel door, set within a late 19th-century glazed porch. The porch has a round-headed doorway with a two-pane fanlight and an arcaded outer order, which also serves as arch-bracing for exposed trusses decorated with quatrefoils and a central trefoil, topped with corner consoles. A lean-to section is located behind a former garden wall, and a late 19th-century conservatory with margin panes stands in front, with doors leading into the left-hand side and between the conservatory’s sides.

The interior retains original joinery and carpentry details, including a 19th-century dog-leg staircase with a square newel post and stick balusters.
