Description

TINTAGEL TINTAGEL SX 08 NE 4/197 Tombchest of Christian Avery and family 58 metres to southeast of Church of St Materiana GV II Tombchest. 1740. In memory of the wife and children of William Avery of Tregeth; Sarah died in 1740 aged 14 months, John in 1752 aged 8 years, Elizabeth in 1752 aged 4 years, John in 1754 aged 2 years, Mary in 1758 aged 23 years and Christian, William's wife who died in 1759 aged 47 years. Slate-stone rubble chest with rectangular slate lid. Inscription and verse in upper and lower case lettering with serifs.
