Description
The waterwheel, located approximately 50 meters southwest of Oak Tree House in Perranarworthal, dates from the late 19th century. It features cast iron wheel segments and wrought iron spokes, originally equipped with wooden paddles that are all bolted together. This overshot type of waterwheel was operated by a piped leat and was used to power a ram that pumped water to a storage well for Oak Tree House. The ironwork for the wheel was likely manufactured at the nearby Perran Foundry.
