Description

A row of three cottages, dating to the early 19th century, are located on the west side of Cove Hill in Perranarworthal. The cottages are constructed of coursed shale walls with granite dressings, and have a scantle slate roof. Brick chimneys are visible over the gable end on the right, over the party wall between numbers 2 and 3, and behind each cottage beside the service rooms. The original plan consisted of two pairs of single-cell cottages, with paired entrances in the middle of each pair. Number 1 has been altered and is not included in the listing. All cottages have later heated outshuts for back kitchens with chambers above, built partly into the roof space. The front elevation is regular with three windows, each featuring a ground floor window and a window above. The doorways are grouped centrally. The left-hand cottage, number 2, was originally paired with number 1, which is excluded from the listing. The original six-panel doors have later-added panes in the upper section. All windows are original 16-pane hornless sashes. The interiors have not been inspected. Goonvrea Terrace is an attractive group of cottages, unaltered since the 19th century and set within a group of other listed buildings.
