Description
Meadowside is a house that likely dates from the early 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a corrugated asbestos roof with gable ends, which probably replaced the original thatch. The left gable end wall is capped with rag slates, and there is a stone rubble end stack with slate strings. The building has a two-room plan with the entrance located slightly to the right of center, leading into a larger room on the left that is heated by an end stack. The smaller room on the right is unheated. There is a circa 19th-century service wing on the left side that extends to the rear and is heated by a stone rubble end stack.
The exterior features two storeys and has an almost symmetrical two-window front. The entrance, slightly to the right of center, has a square-headed chamfered and stopped granite doorframe. In front of the entrance is a large circa 19th-century stone rubble porch topped with a corrugated asbestos roof. To the left of the entrance is a 20th-century two-light casement window, and to the right is a one-light window. On the first floor, there are two two-light casements, although the glazing bars have been removed; the left window is a half dormer with a raked slate roof. The end wall of the service wing is visible on the left side.
Inside, there are wany chamfered floor-joists and a 20th-century grate in the fireplace. The first floor has not been inspected.
