Description

Corner House is a house that likely dates from the early 17th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a rendered finish. The roof is covered with bitumen-coated rag slate and features gable ends, including a gable end on the rear wing. There are several early crested ridge tiles. The house has a projecting stone rubble stack on the left gable end and a truncated large projecting stack on the right gable end, with the shaft removed. There is also a stone rubble end stack for the rear wing.

The layout of the house consists of a two-room plan heated by end stacks, with a central cross passage and a wing at the rear of the left room and passage, which is heated by an end stack. It is unclear if the rear wing is an extension. There is a circa 19th-century outshot at the angle of the rear wing and the right room, a 20th-century lean-to extension on the left gable end, and a 20th-century porch added across the front elevation.

The house is two storeys tall. The front elevation features 20th-century glazed lean-to extensions. There is a 20th-century door and a single light casement window to the right, with two 20th-century windows above; the left-hand window is in a gabled half dormer. The interior is not accessible, but an internal inspection may provide insights into the house's chronological development.
