Description
Delabole County Primary School is a school building constructed in 1878 by Silvanus Trevail. It is made of stone rubble and features slate hanging with slate roofs. The school has rendered axial and end stacks, with the layout consisting of a school house on the left and a school to the right, which includes a small adjoining school room. Originally, the entrance was through a central towered porch, and there were additional school rooms to the right. In the mid-20th century, a small single-storey extension was added to the front of the towered porch.
The exterior is a two-storey range with the school house on the left and a single-storey school on the right. The central towered porch has a pyramid roof and a weather vane, positioned near the centre. The school room and school house on the left feature a double gabled end, while the school is set back on the right with gable ends facing both the right and centre. The left side has a window arrangement of 2:1:2 with 20th-century doors and windows, along with a triple lancet window to the right. The central granite towered porch has a batter and is complemented by the single-storey extension in front. The right side has a window range of 2:2:2:3. The interior has not been inspected. The school is also accompanied by contemporary 19th-century railings and a gate at the front. A similar design by Silvanus Trevail can be found at St Teath School on North Road, St Teath.
