Description
Pengelly is a house dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone rubble and features slate hung with large rag Delabole slates on the front, along with a rag slate roof that has gable ends and brick end stacks. The building has a two-room layout with a cross or through passage, heated by end stacks, and includes a later outshot extension at the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical front that has two windows. The original sash windows have been replaced with 20th-century windows that include glazing bars. There is a 19th-century door located in the centre of the façade, and the slate hanging is particularly attractive. The cottage is situated at the entrance to the Old Delabole Slate Quarry.
