Description

A well house and garden wall dating to the mid to late 18th century, constructed of stone rubble. The high stone rubble wall, incorporating buttresses and a pitched slate cap, encloses a garden to the east of Helland Barton. A well house is centrally located within the north wall, built over a field spring. It features a dressed stone round arch, with a rectangular well sump and slate shelves inside. A slate runnel carries excess water through the centre of the garden. Helland Barton itself, though remodelled and extended in the 1840s, retains features from the early 17th century.
