Description
Cavalier Cottage is a house dating from the early to mid 19th century. It is built of coursed slate stone rubble with dressed granite lintels and features a rag slate roof with brick end stacks. The layout consists of a two-room and cross or through passage plan, heated by end stacks. An outshot extension was added to the right-hand gable end in the mid 19th century, and a 20th-century lean-to extension was added to the rear.
The exterior is two storeys high with a symmetrical three-window front. The ground floor has two probably 20th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows, while the first floor features three early 19th-century 16-pane hornless sash windows. There is a 20th-century stable-type door. A datestone from 1860 and 1900, carved with initials, is located on the end wall of the outshot on the right-hand gable end. The interior has not been inspected.
