Description
Laurel Cottage is a house dating from around the mid-18th century. It is built of stone rubble and features a rag slate roof with gable ends. On the left side, there is a stone rubble rendered end stack topped with a slate pot formed by four vertical slates. The original layout consisted of two rooms, with an entrance to the right of the center leading directly into a larger heated room on the left and a smaller unheated room on the right. In the 19th century, a single-storey lean-to outshot was added to the rear elevation, and another lean-to outshot was added to the left gable end. In the 20th century, an entrance porch was added to the front of the left lean-to, the original entrance was blocked, and a window was inserted in its place. The exterior is two storeys high with a regular two-window front, featuring a rendered 20th-century entrance porch to the left. The windows include a 4-pane sash and a 4-pane casement flanking a 20th-century two-light casement window that replaced the original entrance. On the first floor, there are a 4-pane sash and a 4-pane casement. The interior has not been inspected.
