Description

A barn with a waterwheel and an attached row of shippons or stables, dating to the 1860s. The building is constructed of stone rubble, with a rag slate roof featuring gable ends on the barn and a single-storey rag slate roof on the shippons. It has a roughly 'L' shaped plan, likely containing a row of shippons on the ground floor, a threshing floor and loft on the first floor, and a waterwheel to power the threshing machinery, situated on the right-hand side wall of the front wing. Attached to the left of the barn is a row of shippons or stables. The barn’s exterior features plank doors on the ground floor and double plank doors on the first floor, with a row of pigeon holes below the eaves. The front wing includes a hybrid overshot waterwheel, now largely removed. To the left is a row of shippons or stables with plank doors. The interior was not fully accessible during a survey in 1986.
