Description
ST DAY TOLGULLOW SW 74 SW (east side of B3298) 6/367 House opposite Moorgrove GV II House. Probably C17, remodelled and enlarged in early C19. Slurried granite rubble brought to courses, with quoins; slate roof and brick chimneys. Rectangular single-depth plan (3 units in total but the 1st probably an addition), with rear stair-turret. Two storeys and 4 bays; the doorway is in the centre, protected by an elegant latticed porch, but the lintel and jambstones of a former doorway are visible to its left; the windows are 4-pane sashes, widely spaced, and that at the left end of the ground floor is slightly lower. Chimney on ridge at junction of 1st and 2nd bays, and another at right-hand gable. The rear stair- turret has a tall 2-centred arched window with intersecting glazing bars and hipped roof, and the 1st bay is gabled. Interior: the ground floor room in the present 2nd bay has a large rectangular granite fireplace with stop-chamfered surround; the drawing room in the 3rd bays has early C19 pilastered architraves to the door and both windows, and matching skirting boards.
