Description

This is a small house, likely originally a pair of dwellings, dating from the early 19th century. The property incorporates surrounding garden walls, gate piers, and a gateway. It is constructed of dressed coursed elvan stone with granite dressings, with some cob at the rear. The roof is covered in scantle slate, with wide eaves at the front, and brick chimneys projecting from the gable ends.

The house follows an overall L-shaped plan. It appears to have started as two single-room houses with entrance lobbies, likely in the early to mid-19th century. Later additions include an extension at a right angle behind the left-hand room, a single-room plan extension, a cob lean-to outbuilding at the rear, and another lean-to on the right-hand side of the house.

The west-facing front has three windows, with a slightly asymmetrical arrangement, and features a central doorway. The doorway has a C19 four-panel door with an overlight and a moulded hood supported by consoles. A former doorway is blocked to the left. The ground floor windows are mainly C19 16-pane hornless sashes, although a copy with horns has been installed. The interior has not been inspected.

A low garden wall surrounds a shallow court at the front. The gateway is aligned with the front doorway and consists of round-headed granite gate piers and a C19 wrought iron gate with a scrolled top rail and spear-headed finials. The wall to the left of the gateway retains its original cambered granite copings.
