Description
The bridge over the River Hayle, located at SW 566319, dates from the late 18th century or early 19th century and was widened in the early 19th century. It is constructed of granite rubble, featuring dressed granite lintels and cambered copings. The south parapet is made of granite ashlar and includes square-on-plan granite piers topped with squat pyramidal caps. Iron cramps connect the older parapet copings. The bridge has two spans, with a wider and taller span on the west side over the main channel and a smaller flood tunnel on the east side. The north side of the bridge remains unaltered, and the parapet flares out to meet the road at both ends.
