Description
The Thatched Cottage is a pair of similar but not identical cottages located in St Hilary, Relubbus. They date from the 18th century and were partly rebuilt in the 20th century. The cottages have painted rubble walls and a hipped wheat reed thatched roof, with a brick chimney at each end and a semi-circular external rubble stack on the left. The plan suggests they were originally designed as one room deep with entrance lobbies in the middle. One doorway has been moved to a former window position during the 20th-century remodelling. The exterior features two storeys and a slightly irregular three-window front facing northwest, with two doorways. The doors and the four-pane horned sash windows are from the 20th century. The interiors have not been inspected. The cottages are part of a small group of listed buildings in this rural village.
