Description
This building is a house located at SW 40853537, originally consisting of two cottages, and it includes front garden walls and a gate. It is probably from the 18th century and is constructed of granite moorstone rubble with granite dressings. The roof is made of slurried scantle slate and slopes lower at the rear, with stone chimneys situated over the gable ends.
The house has a shallow double depth plan featuring two wide rooms at the front, with a lobby entrance in between. It likely started as a pair of one-room plan cottages with adjoining entrance lobbies. The exterior is two storeys high and has a slightly asymmetrical three-window front facing southeast. The doorway is located to the right of the middle, and the left-hand opening has been blocked in the 19th century. The ground floor features a 20th-century door and 20th-century windows, while the first floor has a circa early 19th-century 16-pane sash window on the right and later horned sashes on the left and in the middle.
The interior has not been inspected. The front garden is enclosed by 19th-century granite moorstone rubble walls, and there is a gateway with a 19th-century wrought iron gate aligned with the doorway.
