Description

Homeleigh is a house, likely dating from the 18th century, with extensions added in the early 19th century and the late 20th century. The house is built of rendered and painted stone rubble, with later extensions of rendered and painted concrete block and brick. The roof is covered with bitumen-coated rag slate, with gable ends and a hipped end to a wing on the front right. A stone rubble axial stack is located to the left of the centre.

The original layout was probably a single-room cottage with an entrance on the right and a stack at the left end serving as a heating source. Around the early 19th century, a single-room, unheated wing was added to the front right. An entrance was subsequently inserted into the left-hand side of this wing. In the late 20th century, a further extension was built to the left, incorporating a garage on the ground floor and a room above.

The front facade has an asymmetrical arrangement, with a two-window frontage. A late 20th-century extension is on the left, and the front right wing has a hipped end. An entrance is accessed through a late 20th-century glazed porch set in the angle of the front wing; the original door is located in the left-hand side of the wing. Late 20th-century windows are set into the ground and first floors of the earlier range, while the wing to the right has 3-light and 2-light windows dating from the 19th or early 20th century on both the ground and first floors. Late 20th-century garage doors are incorporated into the left extension. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
