Description
The Mansion Working Men's Club is a mid-18th century building that incorporates early 17th century features. It is constructed of brick with a small central break and ride piers. The east hall is cemented, and the building has a hipped roof covered with modern tiles and cemented stacks. It stands three storeys tall and features five sash windows. There is a basement storey at the rear, which has bends to each floor and a cornice above an arched central window on the first floor. To the west, there is a two-bay extension that includes an early 17th century doorway with a moulded Tudor arch. Inside this extension, the entry features a more elaborate version of an early 17th century doorway, complete with a three-centred arched head, carved spandrels, and a lintel with bulbous bases. Part of the original 18th century staircase is said to survive from the first floor.
