Description

FORE STREET 1. 5155 (north side) The Mansion Working Men's Club SX 4258 6/6 17.1.52 II 2. Mid C18 with early C17 features inside. Brick built with small central break and ride piers. East hall cemented. Hipped roof with modem tiles, cemented stacks. 3 storeys. 5 windows, sashes. Basement storey to rear which has bends to each floor and a cornice to arched central first floor window. 2 bay extension to west with early C17 doorway in return (moulded Tudor arch). Interior: entry into this extension has a grander version of an early C17 doorway with 3 centred arched head carved spandrels and lintel (H 1621 K) and bulbous bases. Part of the original C18 staircase said to survive, from first floor.
